Robots can also have special 'personality mods' which give them, well, personalities. Each level in the mechanic perk increases robot build speed and maintenance by 5%. The mechanic ability is the universal robot building skill. The 'Automatonphobia' trait is the counterpart to robots, and a colonist will have a decreased mood when around robots. The 'Robot Mechanic' trait doubles the robot building speed. If a robot is over-charged, the battery will break and can even explode, breaking parts of the robot. They can be installed with more efficient batteries and larger robots can support solar panels, enabling for near-constant work. Recharging stations have two versions: a standard version, which recharges at a normal rate, whilst the upgraded version recharges at double the normal rate. Robots have to be maintained and kept charged, otherwise they break and shutdown at undesirable times. Some modified robot parts can support more special parts, but often sacrifices some parts of the robot, like movement speed or activity. Depending on what parts you use building a robot, you can be limited on the amount of special parts you can give them. You can give robots special parts to allow them to do things they normally can't, like farming or crafting. Robot merchants sell refined and unrefined armour and weapons and pirate traders can also sell powerful armour and weapons. You can craft robot parts out of unrefined metal and give them personal shields, but armour and weapons made from unrefined metal are weaker than armour and weapons made from refined metal. You can build a robot workbench and build robots to assist your colonists. Think of this like Fallout 4's Automatron DLC.
